MORE LIFT AND MORE ROOMS FOR THE CARIBBEAN
Fort Lauderdale, FL. – Delta Airlines will return to the United States Virgin Islands on December 20, 2014 and will continue until August 15, 2015. The weekly Saturday service will operate between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport in St. Croix.
Grenada announced that there will be additional airlift from American Airlines, which presently services the island with Thursday through Monday flights. Beginning December, the carrier will provide daily flights between Miami and Grenada.
The Sonesta Ocean Point Resort opening in October will be the premier five-star, all-suite property in St. Maarten. The resort will sit on the southernmost point of the island, adjacent to the legendary Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino. The 129-room resort offers a sophisticated option for adults combining high design and personalized service with private concierge service.
RIU Hotels and Resorts on October 11 will open its second hotel on Aruba, the Rim Palace Antillas which will be located next to the Riu Palace Aruba. The new hotel will have 482 rooms each with flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. The property will be adults-only and offer 24-hour all-inclusive service. The hotel will have four restaurants plus a pool restaurant, a pool bar and a lobby bar. It will also have its own nightclub, called Pacha.
Delta Airlines announced expanded service to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. During the high-demand season, the additional service will be from Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Minneapolis/St. Paul and New York's John F. Kennedy Airport. The Atlanta service begins January 11; the Cincinnati flights begin February 14; the Detroit service starts February 14; the Minneapolis service begins February 15; and the New York service starts June 6, 2015.
British Airways has announced that it will increase service to Antigua in the summer of next year. This will mean that there will be seven daily flights from London when the ramped up service begins.
Delta Airlines announced service from Minneapolis to Montego Bay, Jamaica and Nassau, Bahamas beginning in January. The flights will offer 150 passenger seats on Sundays to Montego Bay and on Saturdays and Sundays to Nassau.
