IT'S HARD TO KEEP UP WITH WHAT'S HAPPENING
IN THE CARIBBEAN
Fort Lauderdale, FL. – LINKS Magazine has ranked the top 25 islands in the world for golf. Among those so ranked are seven in the Caribbean. Included are St. Kitts and Nevis (considered one destination for this purpose), Hispaniola (consisting of Haiti and the Dominican Republic), Bermuda, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Bahamas and Barbados.
MSN.com just released its list of the 15 Best Islands in the World. Among those selected are two in the Caribbean: Bermuda, and St. John in the Unites States Virgin Islands. Expect both to benefit from this recognition, so make you plans to visit early.
The property formerly known as the Villa Rolandi resort in Isla Mujeres has been rebranded and opened as the new Zoetry Villa Rolandi Isla Mujeres Cancun. This 35-room oceanfront boutique resort includes a spa, yacht services, Bvlgari amenities, two restaurants and two bars. Zoetry is an AMResorts brand and the new resort is the third to debut under the Zoetry brand in the Caribbean.
JetBlue has commenced direct service from Boston to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic and to St. Lucia. The airline also is offering weekly service from Boston to Liberia, Costa Rica.
The Caribbean Journal announced its Best Caribbean All-Inclusive Resorts for 2014. The following is a list of the on-line Journal's top ten choices:

British Airways announced that, beginning in the spring of 2015, it will add a second weekly flight to Tobago. The carrier said the decision about the second flight was driven by demand and will permit visitors to the island to stay 7, 11 or 14 days.
The former Discovery Hotel will open mid-December in St. Lucia as The Capella Marigot Bay resort. It will offer 57 suites and 67 guestrooms as well as a "Rum Cave" and an Auriga spa. Capella will also open another property in the Caribbean on the Riviera Maya on the Caribbean coast of Mexico.
After having been closed for three years for a major renovation, the Malliouhana Hotel & Spa in Anguilla has reopened. The legendary hotel features 44 rooms, two infinity pools, an Auberge Spa, and a new color scheme.
Frontier Airlines has cancelled two routes that were just recently announced, being from Trenton, New Jersey and Washington, DC to Nassau, Bahamas. There is speculation that the airline is concerned about room shortages because the Baha Mar resort's opening has been delayed. The opening of the megaresort with nearly 3,000 rooms in a number of resorts is now projected to be March 2015.
