START TO THAW OUT IN THE CARIBBEAN

Fort Lauderdale, FL. – You're sneezing towards the end of a cold, wet Winter and you need to bake in the sun, have some refreshing beverages and warm up to fun again. Well, the Caribbean is ready for you, whether you’re planning a family vacation, a Caribbean Wedding or a Caribbean Honeymoon. Here are a few of the new happenings in the region.

TripAdvisor has announced its "25 Best Hotels in the World", and two Caribbean hotels deservedly have earned that distinction: The Tuscany in Providenciales, Turks & Caicos Islands and the Eden Roc on the Island of St. Barths.

The following beaches are included on The Daily Mail’s list of "The World's 50 Best Beaches":

Delta Airlines is re-starting its daily non-stop service between New York and St. Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands beginning May 24. Spirit Airlines will increase its Fort Lauderdale to St. Thomas service to daily beginning March 10, as will JetBlue Airways which will add a second daily flight to St. Thomas from San Juan on February 15 and begin offering daily flights between Boston and St. Thomas through San Juan from February 15 to May 1.

BestProducts.com has named its choices for "The Best Hotels in the World Worth the Splurge", and 4 of the 30 are in the beautiful Caribbean:

  • Atlantis, Paradise Island, The Bahamas
  • Hotel El Convento, San Juan, Puerto Rico
  • Rosewood Mayakoba, Playa Del Carmen, Mexico
  • Jade Mountain, St. Lucia

According to The Street, there are two destinations among the "Best Beach Getaways in The World", and both are in Mexico: Cancun and Playa Del Carmen.

American Airlines announced that it is increasing its flights to Curacao, adding a weekly flight from Charlotte, NC and another daily flight from Miami.

The new Rosewood Baha Mar at Baha Mar in Nassau will open June 1 featuring 185 rooms and suites plus five four-bedroom beachfront villas with exclusive services and private pools. The resort will offer Sense, a Rosewood Spa with "island inspired" signature treatments, two restaurants and two lounges. It will also have two swimming pools, a private beach and a fitness center.

Spirit Airlines announced that it will offer non-stop service beginning May 24 between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and St. Croix’s Henry E. Rohlsen Airport three times a week.

The Excellence Group's 315-room all-inclusive Oyster Bay Resort will open in Trelawny, Jamaica on June 1. The new resort offers guests eight restaurants, nine bars, two beachfront swimming pools and a spa.
