THE CARIBBEAN JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER
Fort Lauderdale, FL – The Caribbean Journal recently announced its choices for those islands in the Caribbean that are best for island hopping, that is the ability to visit multiple destinations using one island as the hub for your "hopping" experience. Most of the ones selected are in close proximity to other desirable islands and offer either air or ferry service for easy access to those destinations. Among those selected were Puerto Rico, St. Maarten/St. Martin, St. Thomas, New Providence (Nassau), Curacao, Antigua, Trinidad, and Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
MSN announced its selection of great beaches for the summer. Among the top 20 were three beaches in the Caribbean, including the Seven Mile Beach on Grand Cayman Island, Cane Garden Bay in Tortola, British West Indies, and Crane Beach in Barbados.
The Caribbean Journal reported on its "Best Beaches for Everything." The best walking beach is Grace Bay Beach in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands. The best party beach is in Negril, Jamaica. The best beach for families is Cabbage Beach in Paradise Island, Bahamas. And, the best beach for just doing nothing at all is the Seven Mile Beach on Grand Cayman Island.
Embassy Suites by Hilton Santo Domingo opened in the tallest building in the business district on Avenida Tiradentes. The 150-room hotel is located on floors 4 through 23 of the building while the bottom floors house a movie theater, a plaza and a food court.
Delta Airlines announced that it is launching nonstop flights to Barbados, twice weekly, between Grantley Adams International Airport in Bridgetown and both New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport and Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. The new service begins on December 4.
Southwest Airlines has begun nonstop service from Baltimore/Washington International Airport to the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, Jamaica. There will be two flights daily. The airline will also provide daily service from Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson international and Orlando's International airports.
Southwest began service from Baltimore/Washington to Aruba and Nassau, Bahamas. The airline also announced that it will be launching service to Cancun, Mexico on August 10 and to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic beginning November 2.
Air Canada will begin direct flights to and from Toronto to Curacao. Beginning January next year the Canadian airline will also offer direct service to and from Montreal.
In more airline news, United Airlines will launch a weekly nonstop flight between Chicago's O'Hare on December 20 and continue through early May of 2015, and JetBlue has launched service from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport to Nassau, Bahamas.
The new Capella Marigot Bay Resort in St. Lucia will open in August following a multimillion dollar renovation. The former Discovery Hotel was purchased last year by a New York group. The resort will feature an Auriga spa, a Capella Marina and a retail village. It will also offer the region's first rum cave, with its own "Rum Maestro" and feature local rums from the island.
