The Weather Of The Islands of The Bahamas

The Bahamas consist of around 700 islands located in 100,000 square miles of ocean. The country features over 2,000 islands and cays, most uninhabited, but in spite of the vast area encompassed by the Bahamas the weather conditions are fairly consistent throughout the country. So when planning your Caribbean wedding in the Bahamas, you can rest assured that the weather on one island will be about the same on the other islands in the Bahamas.

If there can be a generalization, the islands of the northern Bahamas tend to have weather more reflective of the conditions in the United States, being only 50 or so miles away from the most proximate islands. During the winter months, cold fronts that make their ways deep into Florida have a direct influence on the weather in the northern Bahamas. As a result, this part of the Bahamas is cooler than other Caribbean islands.

The weather in the Bahamas is moderated by the waters of the Gulf Stream, which are normally quite warm, and the average humidity is only around 65 degrees. The rainy season is from May to October but as in most Caribbean islands it goes as quickly as it arrives so this should not be a hurdle in planning your Caribbean wedding. The months with the most rain are May, June and October. As a result of its rainfall, the Bahamas has perhaps more lush vegetation than any other country in the Caribbean.

The Bahamas boasts that there are on average 310 sunny days a year in its islands. That gives you plenty of opportunity to plan the most memorable Caribbean wedding of all.
