Legal Requirements For Getting Married In The U.S. Virgin Islands
Couples wishing to get married in the United States Virgin Islands may obtain a marriage license application for a wedding by contacting the marriage departments of the specific island you are looking to get married on.
After the application is submitted to the Territorial Court of the U.S. Virgin Islands there is a required 8- day waiting period.
If either party seeking to marry in the U.S.V.I. is divorced, they must have a certified copy of the divorce decree or a notarized affidavit stating when the divorce was granted.
The marriage license application should specify whether the marriage will be performed by a Judge in the Territorial Court or by a member of the clergy.
