St. Lucia has been voted the “World’s Leading Honeymoon Destination” by World Travel Awards for the past seven years.  There is no residency requirement and couples arriving on the island for a day can be married within hours.

Below is a list of documents needed to get married on St. Lucia, to be mailed in advance in order to be eligible for a same-day marriage:

Passport of each party.

Birth Certificate of each party.

Decree Absolute if one of the parties is divorced.

In the case of a widow or widower, a death certificate of the deceased spouse.

A Deed Poll if a name has been changed.

Applications to be married in St. Lucia must be made by a local solicitor to the Attorney General or notary who prepares and signs the license.

If one of the parties us under the age of 18 years, evidence of a consent of parents in the form of a sworn affidavit stamped by a Notary Public.

An authenticated translation of any document not in English.

In the case of a Catholic Church wedding, the couple’s local parish priest needs to liaise with a priest on island to ensure that the couple has undertaken the necessary counseling period prior to the marriage and that they have met all the necessary criteria to enable them to be married in a Catholic Church.
